I live in Vancouver, not exactly a village, with several hospitals, and yet few are taking new medicare patients. Also while visiting in Prescott, AZ I learned how difficult it was to become a new Medicare patient. I, personally am very fortunate, with a long term excellent doctor and few health problems, but my heart went out to some patients who were in the waiting room and I watched them be turned down. The lady at the desk said it took a toll on her to have to tell these desperate people, No New Medicare patients being accepted. I understand we cannot force doctors to take medicare, when private or Ins paying customers are so much easier, less ill for the most part, and are plenty available.
