It’s done. Health reform is now the law of the land. Your hard work has paid off, and you should feel proud.
Today, President Obama accomplished a legislative victory that has eluded our nation for a century. Today, he put the finishing touches on long overdue changes that can make America’s health care system more affordable, more accessible, more efficient, more centered on patients, and more fair for those who for too long suffered discrimination in insurance and disparities in care.
However, this isn’t the end of the journey…it’s a new beginning.
The hard work of making reform a reality now rests with President Obama, Secretary Sebelius and the states.
Now they must establish rules so that no person is denied coverage or care because of gender, age, health status, income or employment; so people who are sick can focus on getting well instead of worrying that they will lose their coverage; and so patients and their caregivers can count on more coordinated care.
Fixing our broken health care system begins now, and we urge you to join us as we hold our leaders accountable and ensure the promise of quality, affordable health care is kept for all Americans.
Stay tuned.

Well now we’ve at least begun and have SOMEthing. We do NOT have HealthCare Reform at all–not even health Insurance Reform. I don’t call the insurance companies STILL calling the shots, choosing how and when and whom they will cover, and requiring US all to BUY insurance and to pay 30% more. But at least we did SOMEthing. Out of 50 Developed countries in the world–only 2–WE the USA and South Africa are the only ones who don’t have a universal health care system for our citizens. Are we not ashamed? As a young artist and world traveller–I got better health care for FREE when travelling/working abroad–both in Britain and in INDIA than I was ever able to get here in the USA. Medical Insurance should be abolished except as a luxury the very wealthy can buy (like in all the countries who give Universal health Care to their people.) The Big Four That Failed America’s Health While Making Obscene Profits in the last 50-60 years they’ve been in control need to be reigned in, regrouped, and made accountable and responsible. All Senators, all Congress-people, all Staffers and ALL THREE branches of government need to give up ALL their Medical perks and benefits til all of America has a chance at decent basic health care like all the countries in the world healthier, happier with their health care, and spend less than we do have. LET’s START making it REALLY BETTER for ALL Americans NOW.
I think it is a good start most important since I have a poor granddaughter living on her own working at a minimum paying job and going to school with diabetes the new rule allowing her to stay on her parents health care is a life saver for her. Literally.
Thank you

I am concerned about my son. He has no Heaalth Care at this time. He was let go from his job of 5 1/2 years a year ago January. So he was elegible for the 65% COBRA. However last Sept. he had to go to the
ER. He had pneumonia. The Insurance did not cover this because of a $3000. deductable. I was asked why he did not keep paying for the COBRA. He was paying for the ER, the ER doctors, the radiologist, and the clinic visits. Now he has no insurance and can’t get any. I was told by one agent that in 4 years he would not be turned down. That is a long time to go without Health Care. What would his options be?
Sincerely,
Jane
I am so happy that health care reform has passed. It is something to be very proud of for all the American people. Finally I can see there is hope for our country to make it a better place for everyone. Thank god for President Obama and our democratic congress and Nancy Pelosi.
For too long we have been asked to choose between our health, the health of our families and the health of the community. We have made this decisions based on lack of resources; understanding; opportunities and fear. The truth is, we don’t have to chose. the ability for us to care for one another, ourselves and our environment in its entirety is absolute and our politic should mirror that.
