If we are to continue to have two family incomes due to economics, we must increase the FMLA for the health and welfare of our children, their parents and society at large. Please do everything you can to maximize this benefit or we may all suffer much greater consequences. After all, isn't this all about balancing our lives? Sincerely, Karen L. Hales

Hello and thank you for the updates. I have currently used FMLA for the past 9 yrs not only for health issues but also as a caregiver. I had emergency surgeries twice placing me on leave 18 mos apart.
The 3rd time 3 1/2 yrs ago my husband a Deputy Sheriff was injured in the line of duty and needed round the clock care. I used FMLA to assist him as well as his office Workmans Comp placing a nurse for 8 hrs a day with him for care until he could help himself. He has a permanent traumatic brain injury and numerous other injuries that I will forever have to take FMLA to care for him now for the disabilities..If FMLA was not in place I probably would have lost my job. I am a Communications Training Officer with a College Police Department. I've been in law enforcement for 22 yrs now. FMLA provides the needed legally assistance that an employed worker these days needs to protect them for repurcussions on the job.
Thank you for the opportunity to voice my situations.

Being a retired senior with a husband who has Parkingson's disease there are many times I need help getting my husband to doctor's appointments. FMLA has been a blessing. It has allowed for my son who works from 5 a.m. -1:30 p.m to help us out without him losing a whole day which is helpful to us and his employer.

The problem he has ran into has nothing to do with the employer but the individual supervisor's who see this as a place they can throw their authority around. My son will not play their games, but unfortunately many do not know their rights and are intiminated into not using this benifit so something needs to be done to prevent this kind of intimination. I recommend that most companies have medical personnel who monitor their employees workers comp and long term illness, I would think that it should be a medical person who oversees the FMLA program not management.
