At the beginning of 2011 my family medical insurance policy went up in price over 10%. Together with more people losing their jobs in the USA, and large numbers of people already jobless, I do not know how many families are going to be able to gain access to inexpensive medical care without some kind of federal government assistance.

Very scary to think our lives are in the hands of the same lawmakers who passed credit card "reform". Everybody who had good credit has been hit hard by the rapacious companies(they raise our interest rates, late fees, downgrade everybody's credit rating)and now we have guns in our national parks. It seems to be in the works to make abortion even more unaffordable. And no one in the media or the "progressive"(male dominated) health reform organizations want to hear a "happy " abortion story- they all tell me they support a women's right to choose, but will not put it in writing! Thanks for keeping me informed!

I take issue with the use of the word "myth" in your article. Myths have an element of truth. While the myths of ancient Greece and Rome are not literaly true, they contain a metaphorical truth as does fiction.
If the statements made by opponents of the current debate are not true, they are not myths, they are lies.

I suggest advocates make the opponents prove their statements since the burden of proof is on them.

It is terrible that they are limiting the potential benefits women will receive under this new health care bill. The effort of this bill was to increase health coverage for all, so why are religious beliefs getting in the way? People should have the right to the coverage they need regardless of someone else's views. It's a privacy issue and personal issue between the client and the doctor... it should not be for others to decide.

As an independant voter with no party ax to gore, it is painfully clear to me that the resistance to health care reform is simply and horribly nothing more or less than the determination of the Republican party leadership to do everthing they can to prevent anything of major benefit to the American people to occur during a Democrat administration that might thereby give them a leg up in any future election and they are indifferent to how many deaths they have to cause in that effort.
